Frequently Asked Questions

Everything families want to know before joining Pack 150.

What age does my child need to be to join?

Cub Scouts is open to youth in kindergarten through 5th grade, generally ages 5โ€“10. The Lion rank begins in kindergarten. There's no upper age limit for 5th graders โ€” all kids in that grade year are welcome.

Is Cub Scouts open to girls?

Yes! Since 2018, the BSA has welcomed girls into Cub Scouts. Pack 150 is open to all youth regardless of gender. Girls participate fully in all ranks, adventures, and activities.

How often do Scouts meet?

Most dens meet once or twice per month, and the full pack gathers once a month. Special events, campouts, and service projects are spread throughout the year. Meetings typically run 60โ€“90 minutes.

Do parents have to attend meetings?

For Lion and Tiger ranks, a parent or adult partner attends alongside their Scout โ€” it's part of the program! For Wolf through Arrow of Light, parent attendance is encouraged but not required at every meeting.

Can my child join mid-year?

Absolutely. We welcome new Scouts at any point in the year. Your Scout can begin working on their current rank requirements right away. Contact us and we'll help you get started quickly.

What's the difference between Cub Scouts and Scouts BSA?

Cub Scouts (grades Kโ€“5) is family-oriented and focused on foundational values and fun adventures. Scouts BSA (ages 11โ€“17) has a more independent, youth-led structure with advanced outdoor and leadership programming. Scouts who earn Arrow of Light can bridge into a local Scouts BSA troop.

Does my child need to be religious to join?

The BSA program includes a reverence component, but is open to people of all faiths. Scouts are encouraged to practice their own religious traditions. Families of all backgrounds are welcome at Pack 150.

How do I volunteer as a Den Leader or helper?

We'd love the help! Reach out via email or Facebook below. All adult volunteers complete a BSA membership application and Youth Protection Training (YPT) โ€” free, online, about 90 minutes. A background check is also required. We'll walk you through every step.
